Japanese American history and culture encompasses the experiences of Japanese immigrants and their descendants in the United States. The Japanese American community has developed a unique cultural identity. The largest concentrations of Japanese Americans are in California, Hawaii, and New York. The Japanese American National Museum promotes Japanese American culture, and the US-Japan Council fosters relations between the United States and Japan.
